ESP Ltd Deluxe EC-1000 (Black Vintage) vs. Fender Stratocaster Standard?

I'm pretty sure ESP is better but it is right for me? I 've heard it's more for Heavy Metal? "I like metal, but not heavy heavy .. Mostly I play RHCP kind of songs .. EC would be 1000 in order for or should I start with (not to go U.S.)?
