Question: Is the position for defense against the dark arts teaching job cursed?

According to the books, almost all the teachers ( except lockhart and that werewolf guy) died when they fufilled the job of being the defense against the dark arts teacher.
or is it just a creepy coincidence? Tell me how you know an don't guess!

Answer: Apparently, ever since Tom Riddle was denied the position of Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, no professor was able to stay in that job for more than one year. However, once Voldy was vanquished, this trend may have changed.

As Dumbledore explained: "You see, we have not been able to keep a Defence Against the Dark Arts professor for more than a year since I refused the post to Lord Voldemort." (HBP)
