Style Electric Bass

Question: If i want to play "Funky Bass" style on my Electric Bass, what type of strings should i use?

My Bass is an Ibanez Four string bass.
(just a little info...)

Answer: Well, it's all a matter of opinion, but for 'funky' fingerstyle, go for a 'hybrid set'. 40 - 60 - 80 - 100.

If you want to play slap, this is still a good compromise, but you may want to go lighter, 35 - 95...

Personally, I prefer stainless steel to nickel, as they keep their sound longer. Trouble is, they eat the frets quicker. It's all a compromise, really. Try out different guagers/materials and stick with what suits you.

I use Warwick Red Label, which are cheap stainless strings, but I change them every few weeks. If you keep them for longer, and can stand losing the 'new string sound', go for something more expensive, like Rotosound.

You can't beat playing on new strings... :o )
